COMPANY
HISTORY
Home Goods Furniture Warehouse was founded in Trail, BC in 1950 by brothers Ernest and Geno LeRose. At the time the company, known as LeRose Mercantile Ltd., was operating out of a 2 storey building totalling 10,000 square feet which was located in the "Gulch" on Rossland Avenue in Trail, BC. In 1968, Ernest bought out his brother and carried on the furniture business on his own. In 1979 Home Goods, with its abundant variety of products, was quickly outgrowing its space. Ernest LeRose made, what some considered, a very bold decision to relocate his business to an empty manufacturing facility in Genelle (China Creek) which is located halfway between Trail and Castlegar on Hwy 22. The new facility was 35,000 square feet, more than triple the size of the original building. In addition to the move, Home Goods continued to grow in sales and staff and Ernest's third eldest, Rob, joined the business as well. The next major change for Home Goods was in 1999 when Ernest's son, Rob, bought the business from him. Ernest continued to actively work in the business right up to his passing, shortly after his 80th birthday, in December of 2000. Rob, along with his staff, continue to carry on the business in the same manner that Ernest had for 50 years with EXCELLENT VALUE and SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE. |
